Reading "The Sun was Always Shining" brought back my childhood memories of playing on bomb sites‚ hiding in head high fireweed and balancing precariously along planks which had once been bedroom floor boards. We also spent whole days in the local park‚ damning streams and collecting minnows in jam-jars with string handles. We had a freedom which few children enjoy today.
