| Lancashire mill towns had holiday weeks‚ some called them wakes weeks. Ours was the 2nd week in July.
Everything shut down‚ mills‚shops‚schools. We saved up all year round & used Cop-op divi.to go to seaside towns for a week‚ we went to Blackpool on the train. During the week we were always bumping into friends & neighbours‚ It seemed the whole town had transferred to the seaside. There was always a visit to the Tower Circus and every day was spent on the sands & in the water. Great.
